The two aft elevators on the Nimitz class aircraft carriers can be toggled on demand using the 'HazeGrey' gauge, which is provided as optional content. Chapter 2 provides detailed instruction on how to install the HazeGrey gauge in your favorite aircraft.
The following key commands are used to toggle the two aft elevators:
• SHIFT+W triggers carrier deck elevator 3 (starboard side aft) • CNTL+W triggers carrier deck elevator 4 (port side aft)
Three classes of amphibious assault ships feature similar animations that can be toggled on demand by the user. The port elevator on the Wasp class LHD and the America class LHA ships will raise and lower on demand (although there is no hangar deck to visit below). Additionally the user can open and close the well-deck doors on the Wasp class LPD as well as on the San Antonio class LPD ships.
The following key commands are used to toggle the elevators and well deck doors:
• SHIFT+Q triggers LHA amphibious assault ship deck elevator 1 (port side) • CNTL+Q triggers LHD amphibious assault ship deck elevator 1 (port side) • SHIFT+K triggers LHD amphibious assault ship well deck doors • SHIFT+J triggers LPD amphibious assault ship well deck doors
It is important to note that the user must be in the virtual cockpit view in order to trigger the animations using the HazyGrey gauge. The animations will not trigger if the user is in an external view.

Found what I think is a slight error in manual called FleetTraffic USN Guide These animations are driven by a simple HazeGrey gauge that is installed into your Effects folder in your sim. Should this be the gauge folder and not effects.- New here if this has been pointed out then delete this answer.

There is a folder called HazeGray in the Effects folder, and it contains effects files. There is another folder called HazeGrey (spelled differently) that installs in the Gauges folder. Let me know if are (or are not) able to get the gauge working in one of your aircraft. We didn't want to get into the business of modifying files of other third party aircraft, for obvious reasons, but we decided it would be OK if we went ahead and show users how to do this on their own. In the future, these functions will be menu driven, but that is going to be part of a future 'new & improved' release. I will add that we won't be charging you as current owners of the product for those 'new and improved' versions however, but we do reserve the right to raise the price for new customers that decide to buy the package later.
